Welschriesling - Nolens Volens 2018

Welschriesling - Nolens Volens 2018

Welschriesling grapes come from the Burgstall single vineyard, situated 400 m above sea level, and are grown on mica schist soil. The vines, planted in 1980, are paired two per spot, encouraging deep roots and resource competition.
Thirty percent of the grapes undergo maceration and fermentation, followed by maturation in used 300 L oak casks. The remaining 70 percent are gently pressed and filled by gravitation into a 500 L oak cask. They were blended directly after the final fermentation.
The wine reveals notes of pear, quince, elderflower, and flint, with elegant, subtle aromas, fine acidity, and a cool, mineral smokiness in the background.
